Important Update Regarding NYS ELA Assessments - April 9, 2025

Dear Phoenix Central School District Families,

This morning, April 9, 2025, our district and others across the state again encountered a statewide technical issue that impacted the administration of the computer-based New York State ELA Assessment Exams. As a result, we suspended testing for today.

The New York State Education Department (NYSED) has informed us that they are working with the CBT testing vendor to establish a permanent solution. We understand that this second disruption has caused inconvenience for our students and families, and we sincerely appreciate your flexibility and understanding. We will not conduct testing for the remainder of this week in hopes that the vendor can enhance its systems and provide a seamless testing experience for our students.

The updated ELA Assessment schedule for our district is as follows:

Grades 3-4:

   -ELA Session 1 will now begin on Tuesday, May 6.

Grades 5-8: 

   - ELA Session 1 and 2 makeups will start on Tuesday, April 22.

For students in grades 5-8 who faced technical difficulties or could not complete ELA Sessions 1 or 2, we will offer them the opportunity to make up this session later in the week.
